Re: 1500w power amp.
magkano ba power supply nyan?ang layo yata sa 1500w nyan.parang d ko yata natutunan sa schol,na paralel of transistor can increase power output.khit sa mga website na npasok ko,the more output trans,can cause instability of the output.ang pagdagdag ng trans sa output ay pampatibay lng,hindi pampalakas.

amps with output above the 1k watt range can have power supplies ranging from 5,000 pesos to 10,000 pesos power suplay pa lang yan ha!arkin wrote:magkano ba power supply nyan?ang layo yata sa 1500w nyan.parang d ko yata natutunan sa schol,na paralel of transistor can increase power output.khit sa mga website na npasok ko,the more output trans,can cause instability of the output.ang pagdagdag ng trans sa output ay pampatibay lng,hindi pampalakas.

Re: 1500w power amp.
As tested with a power transformer rated at 40 amps (quite big) @ 100-0-100 VAC, three 35 amps 400V bridge diode connected in parallel and 16 pcs. 10,000 uF 80 volts (eight in series-parallel connection for every rail) producing 40,000uF 160VDC Filter for every rail. Test frequency from audio generator fed to the input of the amplifier is 100 Hz at 1 VRMS. Dummy load is 4 ohms 2000 watts (homebrew) connected at the speaker terminal of the amplifier.
Result from a multi-tester set at 250 VAC connected in parallel to the dummy load is 110 VAC. Please remember that it is an average reading and we have to convert it to RMS voltage (divide by 1.414).
RMS voltage now is 77.793 volts. Now we have to know the Power rating of the amp base from the ohm's law formula P = E squared over R then we can substitute our given numbers: P = (77.793 X 77.793) / 4 = 1,513. Power therefore produced by the amp is 1,512 watts RMS. Hope this will help.

Re: 1500w power amp.
In the given example of an amplifier having a power of 1512 watts on a 4 ohms load and let us say we double the number of transistors we could get extra power - then you are correct that the power output will not get higher. The Safe Operating Area of the transistor is only enhanced. In the design as tested wherein Current (I) = Power (P) / Voltage (E) [...Ohm's Law again], we will try to know the current passing to the dummy load. I = 1512 / 77.793 = 19.436 Amperes. In the given example above and our load is four ohms - we'll try to connect in parallel another four ohms producing two ohms dummy load. If we will consider that the room temperature is 25 degrees Celsius, the voltage is stable and the current is sufficient to drive the amp therefore the computation now is Power = E squared / R = (77.793 X 77.793) / 2 = 3,026 watts. If the current in the four ohms load is 19.436 Amperes then in our two ohms load it will go up to 38.872 Amperes. Now doubling the trannies will carry the extra current induced by the two ohms load. The Power Output at two ohms load now is 3 KW. Forced air cooling and huge heatsink should be adopted because in this region lots of heat are being generated. In actual test on a residential area from household convenience outlet these computations would be different because of the power loss from the utility line and should not be carried out. Hope this will help.

pls. note also na kailangan nyo ng mataas na voltage para ma achieve ang 1.5k watts at isang sakong output trannies para jan

actually, the meter reading is already the rms reading & root-mean-square is average.
true peak voltage can only be viewed then measured on a scope.
have you actually built it? Insanity Can Be Yours :-) 1,500W / 4 Ohms Power Amplifier

Re: 1500w power amp.
Ordinary meter (Sanwa YX-360TRD) simply measures the average value and multiply it by the so-called form factor to give a calibrated RMS value. Nevertheless, the calibrated RMS will only be equal to the True RMS if the input waveform measured is a perfect sinewave (correct in an oscilloscope).
For a pure sinewave, the peak value is √2 or 1.414 times the RMS value. Meanwhile, the RMS is about 1.111 times the average of the absolute values of the waveform’s magnitude over one cycle. This would also mean that the average is only 0.636 of the peak value. Mathematically, the relationship of the RMS, average and peak values would be like this:
Peak/RMS = √2 or 1.414 (Peak Factor)
RMS/Average = 1.111 (Form Factor)
Average/Peak = 0.636
In the given example:
Average = 110 volts
Calibrated RMS = 122.21 volts
Peak = 122.21 x 1.414 = 172.805 volts
RMS = 172.805 x .636 = 110 volts
Sorry for the wrong calculation and thanks Longthrow for the correction.
I made the average value as the peak value.
Henceforth:
RMS Power @ 8 ohms is 1512.5 watts @ 100 Hz 1 Vin Sub-W pre-amp (short duration)
RMS Power @ 4 ohms is 3025 watts 1 Vin Sub-W pre-amp @ 100 Hz (short duration)
Note:
1. Results were read in a connected dummy load and not in speaker
2. Powerful LF driver when tested in an 18" 1600W Crystal sub
We did actually assembled the 1,500 watts design from our own resources (later modified it to Class H with a bit smaller transformer) but never on connecting it to a 2 ohms load or adding more transistors. The transformer that we used (from our shop) is an 8 KVA isolation transformer with center tap (110V/110V but actual reading during the test is 100V/100V @ + & - 145 VDC).
Insanity Can Be Yours says Rod Elliott in building this amp but for us it is pure love and dedication with what we do.

yup, impossible gyud for an ave juan.arkin wrote:prety huge trans4mer,gmiton nlang nko na as welding machine pls be kind to your speaker,tranies..iapil nlang sad ang mag rewind sa transpo. sori to dsapoint rene & dalt,but 1500w is imposible to acheived by normal person.remmber,it is the max rating only.agree ka longthrow?
psu lang pwerteng mahala. the last time nag inquire ko sa advance for a
70-0-70 @ 20A transformer was 8k. how much more kung 3KVA++
20k+ for psu?
the ckt is working but its not ideal for pa service.
600w++ of heat per ch will be encountered (lost) ;kalas og kuryente
here's what amp designers have to say:

Re: 1500w power amp.
Thanks Longthrow. I've read that article and I don't think one of them even tried to make it. That makes this project more challenging for us my friend. We've been building some of Rod's project and they do work very well (with some minor modifications to suit our needs).
The way I see it Rod doesn't want to get involved with lawsuits regarding this project but we felt he really did somehow made one of this because it really works. Friendly words suggest "do not make it if you are not really sure of what you are doing".
I'm beginning to like this forum because of the constructive suggestions and ideas of the members. Thanks to all.
